Green Roofs - What's the Hype?

Green roofs don’t just look cool, they can also help cool the planet! They sequester carbon, clean the air, insulate buildings and even provide habitat for wildlife.  Green roofs:

  • Clean the air and store carbon.
  • Provide habitats for birds and insects.
  • Slow down runoff which helps prevent flooding and sewer overflows.
  • Act like blankets and help keep building insulated, saving on cooling and heating cost, reducing demand in the summer by up to 75%.
  • More and more cites (see Denver, Chicago, Philadelphia) now require green roofs for any building larger than 25,000 square feet!

How is does your new building design add up compared to this new and beneficial trend?
